About Team Marlin

In March 2023, Eileen Marlin was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer that had metastasized to her brain, spine, and hips. Our family was shocked, considering she had never smoked and appeared to be healthy, playing pickleball 5+ days a week and running around with her grandchildren. 

After two biopsies, it was identified that her cancer had an ALK (anaplastic lymphoma kinase)-positive gene mutation. While this cancer has no known cause and no known cure, this was actually positive news since research over the past decade has resulted in oral treatments that greatly improve life expectancy for those with this cancer variant. 

We are supporting ALK Positive in their fundraising efforts to allow further research into improved treatment options so Eileen and other ALK-positive cancer patients can enjoy more time with their families.
