About Arbo’s ALK Army
Geoff’s Story
I just turned 58 on October 30th, 2023 and have two adult children and a wonderful, loving wife along with a very supportive group of close friends.
I’m starting my second battle with lung cancer. Battle 1 was in 2011 when my right upper lobe and half of my middle lobe were removed. Battle 2 started with my diagnosis in July 2023 with Stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC ALK Positive - thank goodness).
There has been some amazing research performed to date that has developed medications that stop the reproduction of the cancer cells.
I started targeted therapy on August 16th and my first follow up scan in early October showed significant decreases in the size of my main tumor and lymph nodes and new bone growth in my vertebrae!
Unfortunately, my medicine does not kill the cancer cells and that is why, as of today, there is no cure; YET! Science is wonderful and new medicines and treatments are being developed as I battle this disease.
