I started on this unexpected journey 2 years ago, with a diagnosis of Stage IV ALK Non Small Cell Lung Cancer. Through my journey we were shocked by the lack of awareness  for this disease. Today there is more hope because so many people are joining in support of raising more funds for research and solutions to extend life. 

One of my goals is to witness those advancements and be a part of helping to find a cure. It will eventually happen with the growing attention Lung Cancer is getting. 

My specific Lung Cancer ALK (anaplastic lymphoma kinase) ALK-positive lung cancer is caused by a rearrangement of the ALK gene, but we do not know why this rearrangement happens; 'I never smoked'! The experts aren't sure of the cause but environmental is not ruled out.
